About Guidance Publishers

If you have a use for clear writing (in English, not legalese) about a retirement plan, another employee benefit, or a topic that’s related to law, tax, or investments, please call or write me. Please see my e-mail address and telephone number below.

My work always has blended giving business and legal advice in the real world with researching changes in the law and writing and publishing about it.

For example, since 1984 I’ve written about every new Federal tax law that affects retirement plans. Those books and booklets blended an explanation of the new law with my analysis of how employers and other fiduciaries would implement it.

Each kind of work that I do benefits both clients and readers. Because I’m up-to-date on legal developments (including recent court decisions), my advice is quicker and more confident. And because I’m an experienced practitioner, my readers get insights into applying the law that might not come from an academic or staff writer who isn’t working in the field every day.

In 1994, I signed my first agreement with Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, and I continue to write for five Answer Books they publish:

• 403(b) Answer Book

• 457 Answer Book

• Governmental Plans Answer Book

• Roth IRA Answer Book

• SIMPLE, SEP, and SARSEP Answer Book

• Life Insurance Answer Book for Qualified Plans and Estate Planning (discontinued).

In 2001, ALI-ABA and Westlaw published my continuing-professional-education explanation of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001.

In 2004, I contributed to The CPA’s Guide to Retirement Plans for Small Businesses, published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. My current projects with other publishers include new books on retirement plan procedures, new 403(b) rules, and pension funding (as its law, actuarial practice, and accounting change and employers move away from defined-benefit pensions).

Beginning with 2006, I’ve combined these and other writing and publishing services in Guidance Publishers.
